Hollywood on the Tiber
So many verses have been written, inspired by the river and its placid views, by authors from every era. Songs, poems, more or less famous dedications, eternal words linked to the Tiber. Just as countless are the works of painters, photographers and filmmakers who have immortalised the river views and atmospheres in images. The bridges, banks and views of the river have been, and continue to be, an increasingly popular location for international film and television productions. From the neo-realism of Ladri di biciclette (Bicycle Thieves) and Accattone, to the small auteur films of the 1970s, Nell'anno del Signore (The Conspirators) and Fellini's Roma, and up to the more modern Romanzo criminale, Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot and Spectre from the 007 saga, Rome and its river never lose their charm.
